
Wilson Health Information finds Kaiser Enrollees most satisfied second year in a row. Regional and Treatment Satisfaction award winners announced.
NEW HOPE, PA – (PR NEWSWIRE) – September 4, 2002 – Wilson Health Information, America's leading pharmacy satisfaction research firm announced results from the 2002 WilsonRx® Survey which identified Kaiser Health Plan the number one rated insurance plan.
The WilsonRx® Health Insurance Satisfaction Report found that Kaiser was the highest rated plan nationally for the second year in a row and was top rated number in 10 of the 17 issues measured. Healthcare Marketing executives can use the reports to measure perceptions of plan enrollees.
“Survey respondents placed a high level of importance on the overall quality of medical care, plan providers and prescription drug coverage among the seventeen issues measured" said Jim Wilson, President of Wilson Health Information. "Plan enrollees were most satisfied with the pharmacy benefit provided by Kaiser and were more likely to intend to re-enroll and recommend Kaiser's plan to a friend or relative. Kaiser's members also reported that they had the greatest choice of plans with 38% of members having a choice of three or more plans.”
Regionally, Kaiser was highest rated in Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington DC. Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans were the highest rated in Baltimore and Chicago. In Cleveland, both Aetna and Anthem BC/BS were top rated. In Dallas and New York, UnitedHealthcare had the highest ratings. In Pittsburgh, respondents were the most highly satisfied with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Plan and in Boston, Fallon Community Health was rated number one.
Treatment Satisfaction awards were given to Plans that achieved high treatment satisfaction for twenty conditions such as Allergic Rhinitis & Arthritis (Humana), Asthma/COPD (Oxford Health), High Cholesterol & Heartburn/Ulcer/GERD (MAMSI) & Diabetes (HealthNet) "Many leading MCO's have implemented disease management programs that help to increase patient perceptions of care. For conditions such as Diabetes, perceptions of doctor, educational support, glucose testing and control, medications, pharmacist and insurance issues were important in convincing patients that they were receiving the best treatment" said Wilson.
