Wilson Health Information, LLC finds independent pharmacies “most satisfying” in new survey of household pharmacy shoppers. Top rated Chain, Supermarket, Mass Merchandise and Mail Pharmacies as well as Pharmacy Benefit and Health Insurance Plans will be announced on August 30th.
NEW HOPE, PA – (PR NEWSWIRE) – August 12, 2002 – Wilson Health Information, America's leading pharmacy satisfaction research firm, found that patrons using Independent pharmacies were more highly satisfied compared to other store types. "Clearly, Independent pharmacies have earned this distinction by providing high service levels, promptly filling prescriptions and providing high quality pharmacist consulting services" said Jim Wilson, R.Ph., MBA, President of Wilson Health Information, LLC. Pharmacy customers most commonly used a Chain drug store (45%) most often and the use of food store and mail order pharmacies increased considerably from last year (Figure I).
The WilsonRx® Survey Reports allow Pharmacy executives and Healthcare marketers to measure and analyze pharmacy customer perceptions. The WilsonRx® Survey covers more than 300 topics from more than 18,000 pharmacy customers and the reports provide information about levels of satisfaction and importance ratings with more than 45 pharmacy related issues by store type and chain. The reports also provide information on 40 different Pharmacy Benefit and Health Insurance Issues as well as the perceptions of care for specific conditions such as allergy, arthritis, asthma, hypertension and diabetes.
“We observed a decrease in overall pharmacy satisfaction compared to last year in all but food store pharmacies (Figure II) This may be due to a number of factors such as a sixteen percent increase in the out of pocket cost of new prescriptions and an increased reliance on mail service pharmacies. Increased pharmacist work load coupled with the shortage of pharmacists may have also contributed to the decrease,” noted Wilson. However, consumers were much more satisfied with their pharmacy than they were with their pharmacy benefit and health insurance plan as well as being more likely to return and recommend to a friend (Figure III). Wilson Health Information will be announcing the top rated pharmacies, pharmacy benefit and health insurance plans on August 30, 2002.
